Achieving the right to vote was the culminating event of the Women s Suffrage Movement. The Women s Suffrage Movement was also known as Women s Suffrage. The movement was the struggle for women to be able to vote and run for president. It was also closely linked to the women s right movement. In the mid 19th century women in several different countries, mostly the United States and Britain began forming organizations to fight for suffrage. Stephen Crane wrote many short stories, one of which was Maggie: A Girl of the Streets. Poverty, abuse and a survival of the fittest way of life created an environment which Maggie was negatively influenced by. The effect of the poverty is emphasized when Maggie, while observing Pete, ponders â€Å"She vaguely tried to calculate the altitude of the pinnacle from which he must have looked down upon her,† (16). This statement shows how, at this point in her life she sees other people above her. The poverty caused her to think this way- it influenced her in ways so subtle and yet so big. It was this thinking caused by the poverty which led to her seeking out Pete’s strength. The poverty stricken environment in which Maggie lived is one in which only the strong survive or one who adapts. The women are described as â€Å"formidable women, with uncombed hair and disordered dress,† (4). They are survivors. They have no time for looking nice, they are working to be strong and survive. Maggie, on the other hand, â€Å"grew to be a most rare and wonderful production of a tenement district, a pretty girl,† (13). She is not strong in that aspect and as such she sought out a strong person, Pete. When seeing him she thinks â€Å"Here was a formidable man who disdained the strength of a world full of fists. Here was one who had contempt for brass-clothed power; one whose knuckles could defiantly ring against the granite of law. He was a knight,† (16). She became enamored with his strength and defiance. He proclaims how great of a fighter he is and as a result she gravitates towards him so he can be her knight. He could protect her. This thinking that she needed a strong man was a result of her environment. It was survival of the fittest and her attempt at survival was attaching herself to a strong man. Another time in which she had to adapt in order to survive was when she was walking down the streets â€Å"Soon the girl discovered that if she walked with such apparent aimlessness, some men looked at her with calculating eyes. She quickened her step, frightened. As a protection, she adopted a demeanor of intentness as if going somewhere,† (47). This quote emphasizes the fact that in order to survive she needed to adapt to the streets. Throughout all of Maggie’s life there was, on top of the poverty and the primal instinct for survival, violence and abuse in her home. Violence and abuse was a constant in Maggie’s life. The violence and abuse affected her psychology. Both the physical beatings and the lack of parental figures as a result of the abuse cause her to act differently than she would if she had a mother who loved her and a stable household life. Maggie repeatedly refers to her mother as ‘the woman’ or ‘the mother’ such as in the quotes â€Å"the eyes of both were drawn, by some force, to stare at the woman’s face,† (10). She does not talk of Mary as her mother; instead Maggie refers to her as another woman. This happened as a result of the violence shown to her from Mary; she does not trust her mother. Her mother then proceeds to, later on in Maggie’s life, kick Maggie out of the apartment because she does not like Maggie’s boyfriend, Pete. Mary tells Maggie â€Å"Yeh’ve gone the deh devil, Mag Johnson, yehs knows yehs have gone the deh devil. Yer a disgrace the yer people, damn yeh. An’ now, git out an’ go ahn wid dat doe-faced jude of yours. Go the hell wid him, damn yeh, an’ good riddance. Go the hell an’ see how yeh likes it,† (27). This verbal abuse is something which Maggie has lived with all her life. This quote is the climax in Maggie’s life. The abuse from her mother pushes her out of the apartment and to her subsequent death. All of the abuse and violence influenced Maggie and caused her to have a messed up life. Ultimately throughout Maggie’s life, she was influenced by her environment. Her life would have evolved in a completely different way than in Maggie: A girl of the Streets. The environment in which one grows up in is crucial in life. The environment is one where children learn from and it influences who they will be. For some people their environment influences them for the better, and in other cases, like with Maggie, it is for the worse. All abuse, the poverty and survival of the fittest environment lead to her early death. Had those factors not been there she most likely would have lived a long and great life. First and foremost, the understanding of what communication involves is required. Communication is the process of passing information from the sender to the receiver. Communication is only complete when the receiver of information responds to the message passed by the sender (Hargie, 2016). In this scenario, the communication is complete since the waiter responds to the customer both verbally and non-verbally that he is unwilling to sell beer for him until he first makes the payment. When people talk to each other, they use both verbal and non-verbal cues to pass information. Non-verbal communication involves communication using signs. Verbal communication involves the use of words to communicate. The communication event between the waiter and the customer took place in a bar. Whether the customer was new or frequent or not is unknown. However, verbal and non-verbal communication theory was evidenced by the communication. When the waiter refused to give the customer bear, the customer at first clicked and his frustrations could not be hidden on his face. The waiter pursuing him to make a payment first was polite. However, when the customer shouted at him, he became frustrated too and pointed outside using his figure to chase away the customer (Gallois Giles, 2015). Here, the shouting was a verbal communication which the waiter responded by a non-verbal cue by pointing the way outside to the customer. In both, the customer wanted bear before payment and passed this information to the waiter; this was communication and the message was effectively passed between the two parties appropriately. As aforementioned in this essay, body language was also used to pass the message between the waiter and the customer. The misunderstanding between the waiter and the customer resulted in frustrations on the two. From the observation, the waiter noted that the customer was drunk just by observing his disturbed balance in his movement, the smell of alcohol, muddled words, his glassy eyes, and sweating on his face. The customer refuses to pay for the extra beer first proved how unconscious his mind was and how he could easily take the bear and refuse to pay. The waiter tried to calm the customer but this could not be realized as the customer kept throwing hate words to his ears and even abused him fearlessly. The theory of body language signs and movements is proved in this situation since the customer was unbalanced and his movements were disturbed by his unconsciousness (Hargie, 2016). The customer's voice depicted a lot of drunkenness, eventually, this loudness made the waiter to ord er guards to take him out of the club. The third communication theory witnessed in this situation is noise (physical and psychological). The event was taking place in a bar, which was obviously noisy. At the beginning of the customer's communication with the waiter, the waiter was seen to struggle to hear what the customer was trying to order (Gallois Giles, 2015). He concentrated a lot at least to get the customers point for words were being swayed away by the noise inside the bar. I watched a documentary on Youtube about the Super Volcano that lies beneath the oldest national park. I have always been very interested in this particular volcano because it is so close to my home in Colorado. I found this documentary to be thoroughly informative while being left extraordinarily frightening. All of those wonderful geysers, boiling mud pits, and pools of heated sulfur, all get their power by the magma chamber a mere 5 miles below the surface. This Magma chamber contains over one million tons of partially molten rock. Volcanologists have explored all parts of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. The discoveries that they made would shock the world, they have found 3 calderas from past eruptions. The last and biggest eruption ever known to man, taking place 64,000 years ago, left a huge Caldera towards the North part of Wyoming up into Montana that can only be fully seen in the air. The effects of this eruption were felt most heavily in a radius of 300 miles however there were devastating effects were felt worldwide and they lasted up to 9 years. This caldera is the biggest ever known to mankind, and with part of it overlapped with a caldera from a previous, smaller eruption, ultimately creating an even larger caldera. This is the foundation for a globally spread disaster. There’s only one eruption that can almost match the destruction that would come when the pressure starts to build and everything explodes. That is the Eruption in Toba. We know from this eruption that when a supervolcano erupts the immediate effects will take place in a Possible 450ft. Radius. A super volcano differs from the typical volcano in the sense that there is no dome or raise earth where the opening is. Instead, the magma chamber is rumbling ... ...fference of life and death. I liked the production and presentation of the documentary, it was VERY informative and chalked full of facts that I am dying to share with everyone now. If I could change anything about the message that they sent across would be that, yes if an eruption were to happen (which it probably will sometime in the not so far away future however far away that may be, anywhere from a year from now, to one thousand years from now) our future would be bleak and most likely the earth would be desolate. But I would have added in the factor and hope that comes with knowing that God’s in control and it was his will for this to happen. Overall It leaves me knowing everything I would have ever want to know about the Yellowstone Supervolcano. Yet in a strange way, it leaves me wanting to explore deeper into the mystery that lies just beneath our feet.

Lastly, graffiti writers contended that graffiti should not be criminalized as doing so amounted to contravening the freedom of expression. The researcher interviewed the local authority officials to gain a deeper understanding of the social and economic benefits and costs of graffiti, and criminalization of graffiti. The two officials were in agreement that the graffiti culture had led to unsightly, damaging and costly ramifications for private property owners as well as for public buildings. Th e officials were in agreement that graffiti does not have economic and social benefits to society in general and the writers in particular. However, graffiti vandalism, as they preferred to call it, occasioned unwarranted costs to businesses, individuals, and organs of state or local government in removing the graffiti; increased insurance premiums for public and private property; increased government taxes; and impacted negatively on the value of private property. These reasons, according to the local government officials, are more than enough to warrant the criminalization of graffiti culture. Socially, the officials felt that graffiti culture continually undermines community perceptions of safety, not mentioning that it exhibits discernible symptoms of social decline and anti-social behavior. Lastly, the officials were in agreement that graffiti culture warrants criminal reprimand as it is often associated with other undesirable behaviors such as drug-taking, theft, loitering, ga ngland activities, and private and public property destruction. Analysis and Conclusions The data collected during participant observation and interviews satisfactorily answers the key study questions. The main motivators of graffiti culture, according to the gathered data include: need to artistically express the current social and political order from the graffiti writer’s own opinion; aesthetic appeal; need to share an event or experience with friends; pride; pleasure; enjoyment; recognition; competition; boredom and; rebellion. This information expands on the existing knowledge as to what actually propels the graffiti culture (Sliwa Cairns 75). From the graffiti writers’ perspective, it has been revealed that graffiti provides intrinsic emotional and social rewards in terms of freely expressing one’s thoughts, recognition, and pleasure. One previous study had perceived graffiti culture as one of the few successful attempts made by the voiceless masses to en force their presence on urban culture (Kriegel 432). It is however interesting to note that graffiti culture carries no perceived benefits outside the scope of the writers as can be demonstrated by the interview responses from the local authority officials. The successful implementation of change is highly dependent upon how change is introduced, applied, and supported that enables old processes to be dismissed, new ideas are introduced, and a new vision that includes desired changes is accepted by all employees that it will influence (Spector, 2010). The real application of change has to do with involving people to change a process, technology, or even organizational wide change modalities. This feature is awesome for bloggers and marketers: You may  subscribe to a few different blogs to receive their content via email. Now that you use Evernote, when an email comes through with an idea you love, you can easily forward it directly into Evernote to turn that email into a note in your "Blog Post Ideas"  notebook. When you come up with an idea as you look through your email, just write yourself an email and send it into Evernote. That keeps you focused on getting through email without ever leaving the tool, and you won't forget your blog post idea. You may have an approval process or want some general feedback before pursuing a blog post idea. You can easily write the email to whomever you'd like, and  send it directly into your Evernote. Pro  Tip: If you're a Gmail user, there is also a way to clip email threads with Web Clipper to send them directly into Evernote. 3 bonus  ways to capture blog post ideas with Evernote. Admittedly, I don't use these ways often (yet). But they sound pretty powerful for those of you who blog slightly differently than me: If you're a big fan of writing posts on paper- or gathering some of your thoughts on graphic designs, brainstorms, etc. offline- you can easily scan directly into Evernote. While I've never scanned, I've definitely taken pictures on my phone and added them into Evernote, which is super easy, too! If you're a big reader, chances are, blog post ideas come to you all the time from the books you read. You can actually use Kindle's highlighter tool and get all of the awesome quotes you highlighted into Evernote for blog post fodder. Imagine book reviews or even a nice area for your favorite quotes to use in multiple posts. 6 Ways To Capture Blog Post Ideas With Evernote2. Write Your Blog Posts In Evernote Michael Hyatt has some great advice for turning blog post ideas in Evernote into actual content. Begin with a template and flesh out your blog post outline right in Evernote: Set up a blogging template in Evernote. There are certain components that I want to create or collect for every blog post. For example, I am now using the SCORREâ„ ¢ method from the Dynamic Communicators Workshop (DCW) to prepare every post. This is an acronym for Subject, Central Theme, Objective Statement, Rationale, and Evaluation. I store my template in an Evernote notebook called Templates, along with numerous other templates I use on a regular basis. Michael even included a screen shot of his template you can use to build your own: Essentially, you'll use this template to turn a blog post idea into real content. This is an easy way to shape up an outline for your posts, getting the inspiration flowing for that idea you may have thrown in Evernote a couple weeks or even months ago. It's all possible with the new integration between Evernote and your editorial  calendar. There are a lot of benefits of doing just that: You can plan your time a whole lot better by knowing what you'll publish ahead of time. Planning ideas on your calendar will help you prioritize your blog posts based on what has the best opportunity to "move the needle" or in real people words- it focuses your energy on the projects your audience should really love. Well done! So  here's a bonus  of how  we use Evernote for blogging at . 1.  Capture blog post ideas in Evernote. You just read all about this in some extreme detail, so I'll save you from repeating myself on the how-to process. At , we capture blog post ideas using the Web Clipper, Evernote Helper, and email into Evernote features. Right now, we have  one note where anyone on the team can add in ideas, too. That way, if it's just one sentence and a link to the source of inspiration, we have slightly fewer notes to sift through for the good ideas versus the stinkers. We use one notebook for all of our notes relating to blog post ideas. That same notebook is where we start to flesh out posts, too, with research. Use Evernote to capture your blog post ideas. Here's how to turn them into real, published content.2. Research blog post ideas with Evernote. Once we vet our ideas to know if they're any good, we throw them on the calendar as Content in . From here, we use Evernote's tools  like Web Clipper and Evernote Helper as we conduct online research to fact-check our posts before we ever write them. This also plays into Evernote's ability to record audio. We do a lot of case study-esque content to help our audience learn how to plan content even better from the pros who use like Raven Tools, Convince and Convert, and THINK creative group. After  doing a few of these interviews with me writing a million miles an hour, I started researching how to record what my interviewees are saying to help me focus on the conversation instead of just writing down their answers to my questions. I'm excited to try out the recording feature for the next interview. Pro Tip: Folks like Krista and Ashton on our team use the recording feature to remember what Garrett says during meetings. He's got a bunch of ideas, so this way, we can all go back and make sure we knock out projects without forgetting any details. (He has lots of ideas, by the way). 3. Write your blog posts in Evernote. Garrett has mentioned this before: He writes every post in Evernote. It's nice to forget about formatting for a little bit, and concentrate purely on writing great content. Here's what Garrett has to say about it: One of my all time favorite writing tools is most definitely Evernote. I use it to keep track of all of my blog post ideas and regularly add notes and outlines to my documents as I come up with new ideas or details for posts. Plan a note for this week's projects, what's on deck for next week, and all upcoming projects. I'm at risk to nerd out right now. So I'll try to be as clear as possible. is a software as a service (SaaS) startup built on agile development processes. That works for us for the development team, so we've adopted that model of project management for marketing. Essentially, we have one note to which the entire team has access. This note has three main sections: Active Projects: What are we doing this week? On Deck Projects: What are we planning to do next week? Upcoming Projects: What are things we could do, but aren't planning  to do quite yet? Some projects constantly happen every week- so we know they'll happen- like publishing on our blog, sending emails and newsletters, and hosting our Twitter chat. Yet this process, managed at a high-level in an Evernote note, helps us plan the additional projects  we're working on. This note serves as the itinerary for our Monday marketing meetings, and helps us talk through the projects, know who the owners are, and address any road blocks. I just mentioned we have marketing meetings on Mondays. Just as it's important for us to know what we're doing  this week and get a glimpse of next week's projects, it's super important for us to understand how our past marketing performed so we can optimize future projects. Our goals include increasing: Social media shares Traffic Email subscribers Customer conversions Our weekly reports run through stats from a bunch of different tools, often of  screenshots of various dashboards showing our weekly progress: Social media analytics from Traffic reports from Google Analytics Email subscribers from Campaign Monitor and KISSmetrics Customer conversions from Intercom and KISSmetrics At the start of a new month, we'll look at how all the data added up. Basically, we look for trends to understand what's working and what's not so that we prioritize our time (and future projects) according to what will drive growth. Evernote helps us track all of that. 6. Have one notebook for active projects and separate notebooks for ongoing projects. I don't like clutter. So I don't like new notebooks for every project because sometimes they're really small and then notebooks just sit there, making it difficult for me to see the few notebooks I use every day. We have  one notebook for one-off active marketing projects we're working through. We actually write a lot of our content in Evernote notes, whether it's blog posts, Web pages, landing pages, case studies, tear sheets- you name it. When a project is done, we move the notes to another notebook for closed marketing projects. This  keeps it simple to archive  since  we've most likely edited the content once it was formatted, so we consider the final published content to be  the master source. For ongoing projects like our #CoChat Twitter chat, we have a notebook to which we add new notes all the time.
